Start with load and roof data
Interval load, roof area, structure, shading and connection points determine realistic PV capacity.
Coordinate with generators
Solar, grid and generator operation need controls that avoid unstable reverse power or excessive generator light-loading.
Use storage selectively
Battery storage can support peak shaving, ride-through or resilience, but economics depend on the use case.
Buyer checklist
Verify the complete project scope
Confirm exact equipment model and rating, scope of supply, installation responsibility, commissioning, warranty, spare-parts path and after-sales support. For industrial power projects, the lowest initial price is not automatically the lowest lifecycle risk.
Advanced buyer notes
For meaningful comparison, normalize the exact technical specification, installation and commissioning scope, written warranty, spare-parts route and after-sales response. Search rankings, company names and import volume are useful discovery signals, but the project decision should be based on equivalent technical offers.
Data worth collecting before design
Collect recent electricity bills, interval load data where available, transformer/generator ratings, major motor loads, operating hours and the required backup duration. For rooftop solar, add usable roof area, shading and structural information. For UPS/storage, separate critical loads from loads that can tolerate interruption.
These inputs let suppliers quote against the same requirement and make financial or resilience comparisons much more meaningful.
Performance should be measured at system level
For solar, storage, UPS and power-conditioning projects, component efficiency alone does not describe site performance. Cable losses, inverter loading, battery depth of discharge, ambient temperature, load profile, generator interaction and control settings all affect the result.
A useful proposal should identify what happens during grid failure, restoration, low battery, generator start, overload and equipment maintenance. The sequence should be understandable before installation rather than discovered during an outage.
Research methodology and freshness
PS Group research pages separates company claims, public third-party data and general engineering guidance. Dataset-specific figures are labelled with their scope; competitor names are used for buyer comparison without implying affiliation; and technical values are treated as references until verified against the final project and manufacturer documentation. Integration checks
| System interface | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Grid | Voltage, tariff/metering and permitted export where relevant. |
| Generator | Minimum loading, reverse-power control, frequency/voltage tolerance. |
| UPS | Rectifier harmonics, charger load, bypass and autonomy. |
| Solar/storage | Inverter capacity, battery usable energy, thermal management and protection. |
| Controls | Transfer logic, alarms, monitoring and fail-safe states. |
Start from the load profile
Power-quality, solar, UPS and storage projects should begin with measured or well-documented load data. Daytime demand, peak power, critical-load duration, harmonics, generator interaction and expansion plans materially affect equipment size and control strategy.
Frequently asked questions
Can a factory run fully on rooftop solar?
Usually not without sufficient storage or another source because solar output varies.
Can solar reduce diesel use?
Yes in a properly controlled hybrid system.
What data is needed for a proposal?
Bills, load data, roof drawings, transformer details, hours and site constraints.
